2025 Gansu Provincial International Sister-City Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to support the Chinese language studies and living expenses of international students from Gansu’s international sister cities. The program aims to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Gansu Province and its international sister cities, as well as other friendly cooperative cities and friendship organizations abroad.

IV. Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Citizenship: Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China (PRC), holding a valid passport, and originating from or having studied, worked, or lived in a Gansu Provincial Sister City. Applicants should demonstrate friendliness toward China and be in good mental and physical health.
    • Applicants who were originally Chinese citizens but later obtained foreign nationality must meet the conditions specified in Document No. 12 (2020) issued by the Ministry of Education of the PRC.
  2. Academic Background: Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, with strong academic performance, and be aged between 18 and 30.
  3. Compliance: Have no record of violating PRC laws, regulations, or Lanzhou Jiaotong University (LZJTU) rules.
  4. Scholarship Status: Not be the recipient of any other scholarships.
  5. Language Proficiency: Possess a valid HSK Level 2 or above certificate.

VII. Application Documents

Applicants must provide the following documents:

  1. A copy of the passport home page.
  2. Visa page(s) and records of entering and exiting China, if applicable.
  3. Notarized copy of the highest diploma.
  4. Academic transcripts. (Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized translations in Chinese or English.)
  5. A valid HSK Level 2 or above certificate.
  6. A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form (refer to Appendix 2).
    • The original document must be completed in English, printed by Chinese quarantine authorities, and include all items listed.
    • Incomplete forms or those lacking the physician’s signature, the official hospital stamp, or a sealed photograph are invalid.
    • Medical examination results are valid for six months.
  7. Certified documents of participation in social activities, if any.
  8. A valid Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (or Police Clearance Certificate), issued by the local public security authority within six months prior to the application date.

VIII. Admission and Enrollment

  1. Application Tracking: Check your email or log into the LZJTU online application portal to monitor your application status. Ensure your email address is accurate and check it regularly for updates, including interview arrangements.
  2. Offer Confirmation: Successfully admitted candidates must confirm their offer via email within 10 working days. Payment of the registration fee (400 CNY) and accommodation fee (1,500 CNY) must be completed online through the LZJTU application system.
    • Fees are non-refundable.
    • Failure to confirm or pay on time will result in the invalidation of the admission offer.
  3. Admission Documents: After payment, candidates will receive the E-version of the Admission Notice (in Chinese and English) via email within 15-20 working days. Candidates must download, print, and sign the document themselves.
  4. Visa Application: Visit https://www.studyinchina.edu.cn to download the Visa Application Form (DQ/JW202).
  5. Insurance Requirement: Purchase international student insurance (500 CNY plan) before entering China. Payment must be made through https://www.lxbx.net/.
    • Refer to Appendix 3 for payment instructions.
    • After payment, send the List of Insurance Information PDF to isoadmission@lzjtu.edu.cn.
    • Students without valid insurance will not be registered.
  6. Registration: All admitted students must register within the specified time in the Admission Notice. Original application documents are required at the time of registration. Admission offers will be invalid if students fail to register within two weeks of the enrollment deadline.
  7. Document Verification: Admission offers will be revoked if any document is found to be falsified or if students fail the physical re-examination or entrance test.

IX. Annual Review

Each year, students undergo a comprehensive evaluation of their academic and daily performance. Those who pass the annual review may qualify for next year’s Silk Road Scholarship of Gansu Province or other scholarships.
