Türkiye and China Increase Weekly Passenger Flight Rights to 49

A new memorandum of understanding has been signed between Türkiye and China in the field of civil aviation, significantly expanding air travel capacity between the two countries. According to the agreement, the number of weekly passenger flight rights has been increased from 21 to 49 — marking the first such expansion in 15 years.

The announcement was made on the official website of Türkiye’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM), following bilateral negotiations with the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The talks were held in Beijing earlier today and resulted in several key developments to enhance aviation cooperation.

Under the newly signed deal, Turkish carriers have also been granted access to three new destinations in China: Chengdu, Xi’an, and Ürümqi. This expansion will allow Turkish airlines to launch new direct flights to these cities in the near future.

The move is expected to strengthen bilateral ties, boost tourism, and enhance connectivity between Türkiye and China in the post-pandemic era.
