2025 WIPO–China (ZUEL) Summer School on Intellectual Property

📘 Program Overview

The WIPO–China (ZUEL) Summer School is a two-week intensive program jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL). It is designed for graduate and postgraduate students, as well as young professionals, who have a foundational understanding of intellectual property (IP) and are eager to deepen their knowledge and engage in practical learning.

This program offers a unique opportunity to explore various dimensions of IP and understand the global role and functions of WIPO. The curriculum encourages cross-disciplinary perspectives and emphasizes the relevance of IP across sectors.


📚 Curriculum

The program includes:

  • Expert-led lectures
  • In-depth case studies
  • Interactive simulation exercises
  • Collaborative group discussions

Participants will examine the relationship between intellectual property and other fields such as technology, business, law, and the creative industries.


🎓 Certificate of Participation

A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to those who:

  • Attend all scheduled sessions
  • Keep their camera on throughout the program (for online participants)
  • Actively engage in discussions and complete group projects

Applicants are encouraged to assess their availability and willingness to fully commit before registering.


✅ Eligibility Criteria

The program is open to:

  • Graduate and postgraduate students
  • Young professionals from all academic disciplines
  • Individuals who already possess basic knowledge of IP

Important:
All participants must have successfully completed the WIPO General Course on Intellectual Property (DL-101) before the registration deadline. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed this requirement.

Registration Period: April 25 – May 30, 2025
Program Dates: June 23 – July 4, 2025

  • Copy of passport or national ID (mandatory)
  • Motivation letter (max. 300 words) (mandatory)
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (mandatory)
  • DL-101 Certificate (mandatory)

All applications must be submitted through the WIPO online platform. The motivation letter should clearly outline your interest in IP and what you hope to gain from the Summer School experience.


💰 Registration Fees

There is no registration fee for this year’s Summer School — participation is free of charge for all accepted applicants.

However, participants who choose to attend in person in Wuhan are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses throughout the program.


🏥 Health & Insurance Requirements

According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Education of China:

  • All onsite participants must hold valid medical insurance covering their entire stay in China
  • Participants must also provide a medical certificate upon arrival
