On July 22, Prof. Dr. Wang Jian’an from Zhejiang University and his team performed successful transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures on complex patients at Kocaeli University Hospital, in cooperation with Turkish cardiologists, using a domestically developed Chinese medical device.
Wang Jian’an, a renowned cardiologist from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was invited to Kocaeli University Hospital in Turkey on July 22. Using domestically developed Chinese medical devices, he and his team carried out several TAVR procedures. During the operations, Prof. Dr. Teoman Kılıç, Chairman of the Turkish Interventional Cardiology Working Group and expert in cardiovascular intervention, collaborated with the Chinese team. The first patient was an 82-year-old woman. Her daughter expressed trust and appreciation for both Turkish and Chinese doctors.

Following the operations, both Turkish and Chinese doctors made statements.
Prof. Dr. Kılıç said: “First of all, I sincerely thank Prof. Dr. Wang and Dr. Liu for their support in implanting two very high-risk cases. Everything went perfectly.”
Prof. Dr. Wang emphasized that China’s medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare services will continue to globalize and serve humanity worldwide. “Today, together with my team, we brought Chinese domestically developed devices to Turkey, a Belt and Road country, and successfully treated a patient with severe aortic valve stenosis. The procedure was performed smoothly and precisely, yielding excellent results. We have great confidence in China’s locally developed medical technologies,” he stated.
