On the second day of the “Silk Road Links, SCO Shared Success” Global Media Tour, journalists from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) continued their visit to the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) in Qingdao.
Under the theme “Innovation and New Dynamics in Economic and Trade Cooperation,” the media delegation explored three of SCODA’s core platforms: the Silk Road E-Commerce Comprehensive Service Platform, the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade, and the SCO Comprehensive Economic and Trade Service Platform.
Through in-depth presentations by platform officials and direct engagement with international students studying on campus, participants gained detailed insight into SCODA’s innovative achievements in digital transformation of cross-border trade, international talent cultivation, and streamlined border-crossing services.
SCODA’s integrated development capacity and strategic national-level role as a growth engine were directly observed and widely recognized by the delegation.
Particularly noteworthy were the digital trade ecosystem fostered by the Silk Road E-Commerce platform, the multinational talent training system established by the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade, and the pioneering “one-stop” service model of the Comprehensive Service Platform. These initiatives have emerged as powerful drivers of regional economic and trade cooperation and serve as practical models for advancing multilateral collaboration under the SCO framework.
The delegation also visited the Haier COSMOPlat Industrial Internet Ecological Park to witness firsthand SCODA’s approach to promoting open development through science and technology. The facility showcased artificial intelligence-powered production lines, smart manufacturing systems, and integrated global supply chain solutions.
These innovations not only boost local industrial capacity but also contribute to building an open, intelligent, and interconnected ecosystem that encourages international cooperation.
With its strong potential to deepen multilateral cooperation within the SCO, SCODA is becoming a strategic hub in international economic relations. Its focus on digital transformation, innovative infrastructure, and business-friendly environment positions it as a pioneering development model not only for China but for the wider region.
