Program Introduction
The School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China has launched a new doctoral program in international communication, conducted entirely in English. The program aims to:
- Train high-level professionals for global news communication in non-Chinese-speaking regions, especially in the context of new media,
- Develop journalism talents with an international perspective, strong academic proficiency, and excellent practical skills,
- Cultivate individuals with a profound understanding of communication theories, familiarity with global audiences, expertise in media integration, and a commitment to promoting dialogue and mutual understanding between their countries, China, and the world.
This program is specifically designed for international students, particularly young talents such as journalists and scholars from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
Application Qualifications
- Non-Chinese Nationality: Applicants must possess a valid ordinary passport and not hold Chinese nationality.
- Health Condition: Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy and have no criminal record.
- Academic Qualifications: A master’s degree is required.
- Language Proficiency:
- A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL score 90 is required.
- Applicants who have completed an English-taught degree should provide a language instruction certificate from their previous institution.
- Native English speakers are exempt from submitting a language proficiency certificate.
- Compliance: Applicants must adhere to the nationality regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

- Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B: High-Level Program): December 3, 2024 – February 15, 2025

Scholarship Applications
Chinese Government Scholarship
- Type A: Bilateral Program
- Applicants should apply through the designated authorities in their home countries, such as Chinese embassies or consulates.
- Please consult the relevant authorities for further information and requirements.
- Type B: High-Level Program and Silk Road Program
- Applicants should apply to both the university and the Chinese Scholarship Council simultaneously.

Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship
The Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship, established by the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, supports outstanding international students in Beijing. Details on application requirements and procedures will be announced later.
