Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) is a prestigious national university under the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the first institutions included in national initiatives such as the “Double First-Class” program, the “211 Project,” the “985 Project Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines,” and the “2011 Collaborative Innovation Plan.” Located in Chengdu, a city known for its rich historical and cultural heritage, status as a national central city, and role as a core hub in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, SWJTU is dedicated to fostering academic excellence.

The Southwest Jiaotong University Presidential Scholarship aims to support outstanding international students in pursuing academic excellence at Southwest Jiaotong University.

The catalog of admitted majors is listed in Annex 1 (the final name of the majors is subject to the Ministry of Education’s final approval and the admission letter).

Scholarship Coverage

• Full scholarship: Includes tuition, stipend, comprehensive medical insurance, and on-campus accommodation during the applicant’s study period in China.
• Partial scholarship: Covers part of the expenses mentioned above.

Requirements for Application

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health, both physically and mentally.
2. Applicants applying for a bachelor’s degree should hold a high school diploma and be generally under the age of 25.
   Applicants applying for a master’s degree should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, have excellent academic performance, and be no older than 35.
   Applicants applying for a doctoral degree should have a master’s degree or equivalent, have excellent academic performance, and be no older than 40.
3. Students choosing Chinese as the language of instruction must provide an HSK Level 5 certificate or higher.
   Students choosing English as the language of instruction and non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and communicate effectively with instructors and complete their degree studies in English. If available, TOEFL, IELTS, or other English language proficiency certificates should be provided.
4. Applicants must meet the admission requirements of Southwest Jiaotong University regarding academic qualifications and other relevant conditions.

(II) Application Procedure

1. University System Application: Applicants must submit their applications through the university’s application system at https://admission.swjtu.edu.cn.
2. Preliminary Review: Applications will be reviewed based on enrollment requirements, followed by an academic review conducted by the respective schools. Applicants who pass the initial review must pay a non-refundable application fee of RMB 400, regardless of whether they are admitted.
3. Academic Review: Each school will organize an expert review to comprehensively evaluate the applicant’s academic ability, language proficiency, educational background, and potential through interviews or written tests. Undergraduate applicants will be required to participate in an entrance examination.
