About Guizhou University (GZU)
Guizhou University (GZU), founded in 1902, boasts a rich history spanning over 120 years. As a prestigious institution, it is part of the national 211 Project universities and the national Double First-Class Initiative. GZU offers diverse programs across 12 major disciplines, including literature, history, philosophy, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, economics, management, law, education, and art. With 40 colleges, the university currently enrolls over 35,000 full-time undergraduate students and more than 17,000 graduate students.
The application guidelines for the 2025 Guizhou University International Students Scholarship are now available. Eligible applicants are encouraged to carefully review the requirements and submit their applications accordingly.
I. Eligibility
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality & Health: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health.
- Educational Background & Age Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree Applicants: Must have completed high school or an equivalent qualification with excellent academic records. Generally, applicants should be under 25 years old. Exceptionally outstanding applicants may have the age limit relaxed.
- Master’s Degree Applicants: Must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with excellent academic performance. Generally, applicants should be under 35 years old. Exceptionally outstanding applicants may have the age limit relaxed.
- Doctoral Degree Applicants: Must hold a master’s degree or its equivalent with excellent academic performance. Generally, applicants should be under 40 years old. Exceptionally outstanding applicants may have the age limit relaxed.
II. Language Proficiency Requirements
- Programs Taught in Chinese: Applicants must submit a valid HSK Level 4 certificate. Those who previously obtained a degree from a Chinese university are exempt from providing an HSK certificate.
- Programs Taught in English: Applicants must provide a recognized English proficiency certificate, such as:
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 80
- IELTS: Minimum score of 6.0
- Applicants who completed their previous degree in English must submit proof of English-medium instruction and take GZU’s English proficiency test.
III. Scholarship Coverage and Conditions
Special Notes:
- The scholarship does not cover:
- Physical examination fees
- Visa processing fees
- Comprehensive insurance (approximately 800 yuan per year)
- New student registration fee (500 yuan)
- The scholarship generally covers the standard duration of study, subject to annual performance evaluations. GZU reserves the right to upgrade, downgrade, suspend, or terminate the scholarship based on academic results, overall conduct, and supervisor evaluations.
- Application materials must be authentic. If false information is detected, the scholarship will be revoked, and in severe cases, the applicant may be expelled.
- Scholarship results will be announced via system notifications and emails. Failure to confirm acceptance within the specified period will be regarded as a withdrawal of the application.

VI. Application Procedure
- Visit the online application portal: https://gzu.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx.
- Register using a valid email address and log in.
- Click on “Apply Online”.
- Fill in all required fields accurately in either Chinese or English.
- Upload all required documents.
- Review your application and click “Submit”.
VII. Required Documents
- Passport Copy: The passport must be valid throughout the study period. Applicants in China must also submit visa or residence permit pages and an entry stamp page.
- Notarized Highest Educational Qualification Certificate: Current students must provide proof of expected graduation or an enrollment certificate.
- Notarized Academic Transcripts: Issued and sealed by the academic affairs office or student management department of the attended institution. If not in Chinese or English, notarized translations must be provided.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form: Must include all required tests, a physician’s signature, the hospital’s official stamp, and a sealed applicant photograph. Valid for six months.
- Financial Proof: Applicants must provide a financial certificate of at least CNY 20,000 per year or sign a financial guarantee document.
- Non-Criminal Record Certificate: Issued by the applicant’s local public security authority within six months before application submission.
- Language Proficiency Certificates: As per program requirements (HSK, IELTS, TOEFL, etc.).
- Recommendation Letters:
- Two letters from teachers for undergraduate applicants.
- Two letters from professors or associate professors for master’s and doctoral applicants.
- Self-Introduction Video: Required for all applicants in the application language.
- Master’s and doctoral applicants must also submit a study plan.
- Legal Guardian Documents: Required for applicants under 18, proving the guardian’s residence in China.
Important Tips:
- Documents must be clear, authentic, and uploaded in PDF format.
- Poor-quality or illegible documents will not be processed by GZU.
