Tianjin Normal University (TJNU) is now accepting applications for the 2025 Tianjin Government Scholarship (TGS) for outstanding international students. This prestigious scholarship supports undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and non-degree studies in China.
TJNU, with its rich legacy in teacher education, has welcomed over 60,000 international students from 86 countries since 1964. As a top destination for Chinese language education and international cooperation, it has been designated as a “Demonstration Base for Studying in China” and works closely with the Ministry of Education, the Tianjin Municipal Government, and over 220 institutions across 39 countries.
🎯 Who Can Apply?
Outstanding international students who:
- Are non-Chinese citizens in good health
- Plan to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, or non-degree education in Tianjin
- Do not hold any other Chinese government scholarships simultaneously
📌 Eligibility Criteria
🎓 Education & Age Requirements
- Undergraduate applicants: High school diploma, under age 30
- Master’s applicants: Bachelor’s degree, two professor recommendation letters, under age 35
- PhD applicants: Master’s degree, two professor recommendation letters, under age 40
- Non-degree/Language students: High school education, under age 45
- Advanced scholars: Master’s degree or associate professor title, under age 50
🈴 Language Requirements
- Bachelor’s and general advanced applicants (excluding Chinese majors): HSK Level 4+
- Master’s/PhD applicants: HSK Level 5+

New Applicants:
- Valid passport copy
- Notarized diploma and transcripts (Chinese & English)
- Two recommendation letters from professors/associate professors
- HSK certificate
- Foreigner Physical Examination form (download: link)
- No criminal record certificate
- Optional: other supporting materials
Currently Enrolled Students:
- Valid passport copy
- Academic transcript (last academic year)
- College recommendation form
- Two recommendation letters (for master’s or PhD)
- Residence permit copy
- HSK certificate
- No criminal record certificate

💸 Scholarship Types
- First-Class Scholarship: Covers tuition, accommodation, medical insurance, and living allowance
- Second-Class Scholarship: Covers tuition only
