BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Applicant: Outstanding international students applying for a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program in Shanghai University. Applicants of Master’s and Doctoral Programs could apply for FULL scholarship and PARTIAL scholarship. Applicants for the Bachelor Program can only apply for PARTIAL scholarships. Majors under this scholarship program: No Limit (For all majors open to enrollment at Shanghai University in 2025)
Scholarship Coverage: ·Full scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, living stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance.·Partial scholarship covers tuition and comprehensive medical insurance. The specific details of the scholarship are subject to the information on the Shanghai University online application website:https://apply.shu.edu.cn/
SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY
1. Non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary-type passport and in good mental and physical health.
2. The applicant must meet the academic qualifications and age requirements set by the program.① be an academically excellent holder of high school diploma or its equivalent under the age of 25 when applying for an undergraduate program;② be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a Master’s program;③be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;
3. The language proficiency and academic background should meet the application requirements of the Shanghai University New International Student Scholarship. (For the details, please click “阅读原文” at the end of the article) 4. Not simultaneously receive other types of scholarships.
DOCUMENTS
Includes a copy of passport information page, notarized highest diploma, academic transcripts, language qualification certificates, research plan, recommendation letters, foreigner physical examination form, non-criminal record report, awards, academic achievement proof, etc. (For the details, please click “阅读原文” at the end of the article.)
NOTES:·Documents not in Chinese or English should be accompanied by Chinese/English translation provided by notarized or issuing departments;·Only scanned copies of the above materials are required for application, and the original documents are required for reference at the time of registration.·Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by untrue, unclear, or unidentifiable uploaded materials.
Application Process Steps
- Login and Complete the Online Application:
- Visit https://study.shanghai.cn/ or https://apply.shu.edu.cn/ to fill out the online application form.
- Choose a Major and Submit Application Materials:
- Select your major and tutor, then upload the required application documents.
- Shanghai University Online Qualification Assessment:
- Shanghai University will review your eligibility through an online qualification assessment.
- Security and Background Check:
- A security and background check will be conducted for international students.
- Telephone and Online Interview:
- Participate in a telephone and/or an online interview as part of the evaluation process.
- Receive Pre-admission Notice:
- If successful, you will receive a pre-admission notice.
- Pay the Application Fee:
- Complete the payment of the non-refundable application fee (RMB 800).
- Scholarship Review:
- The Shanghai University Scholarship Committee will review your application materials and determine scholarship candidates.
- Results Announcement:
- Scholarship results will be published online on the award list at https://apply.shu.edu.cn/.
- Confirmation by Scholarship Management:
- The list of scholarship candidates will be submitted to the relevant scholarship management organization for final confirmation.
- Receive Official Admission Documents:
- After final confirmation, you will receive the official admission documents.
IMPORTANT DATES
Deadline for application submission: May 15th, 2025. Date of new student registration: August 20th, 2025 (The specific registration time will be notified on the official website https://apply.shu.edu.cn/ ).
OTHERS
1. Scholarship applicants must submit their application materials directly to Shanghai University in person. Those who apply by agencies will be disqualified from scholarships.
2. Scholarship recipients must complete the registration and enrollment at the scheduled time per the university regulations. Those who miss the deadline without approval will be disqualified from the scholarship.
3. Scholarship recipients must bring all original documents for registration. Provision of any false/ misleading information or failure to provide the requested supporting documents will lead to disqualification of admission.
4. Scholarship recipients must attend the annual scholarship review, which evaluates their academic and daily performance for the whole academic year. Those who fail to pass will lose their eligibility for the next year’s scholarship.
5. Scholarship recipients cannot change their major, transfer to another University, or prolong the length of study in principle.
6. The College of International Education, Shanghai University, shall explain those items.
