The statement, signed by young representatives from various countries, emphasized opposition to war, unilateralism, and hegemonic ambitions. It called on youth to act collectively under the themes of “peace preservation, intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and combating climate change.” The declaration stressed the importance of safeguarding the achievements of World War II and the UN-centered international order.
Call of the World Youth Peace Conference
The declaration, urging all young people to unite to protect peace, support development, and build the future together, included the following:
“We call on youth to be defenders of world peace: History cannot be altered, justice must be defended, and peace must be preserved. Youth should learn from history, take concrete steps to value and protect peace, oppose all forms of war and violence, and resist unilateralism, hegemony, and protectionism. They must safeguard the achievements of World War II and the UN-centered international system, as well as the rules-based global order. By practicing true multilateralism, youth should contribute their energy to world peace.
“We call on youth to be pioneers of intercultural dialogue: Preserving world peace begins with building mental barriers against conflict. Youth should act with equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness; they should overcome civilizational gaps through intercultural communication, resolve conflicts through mutual understanding, and transcend notions of superiority through coexistence. In doing so, they contribute youthful wisdom to the harmonious coexistence of different civilizations and mutual understanding among peoples.
“We call on youth to be advocates of cooperation and win-win approaches: Development is the foundation of peace. Youth should act with a spirit of cooperation, win-win solutions, and shared development; they should utilize multilateral and bilateral mechanisms as well as regional platforms to deepen and expand youth cooperation, actively participate in implementing the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and future summit outcomes, and help reduce global development gaps while promoting a more inclusive and equitable global development.
“We call on youth to promote the use of technology for good: Technological progress offers opportunities for world peace but also presents challenges. Youth should take the lead in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, assume responsibility, ensure that technological advancements benefit all humanity, support equitable use of digital technologies, and contribute youthful solutions to improve global technology governance and build an inclusive, just, and sustainable future.
‘LET US WALK HAND IN HAND FOR HUMANITY’S COMMON DESTINY’
Eighty years ago, our ancestors illuminated the darkness through unity; eighty years later, youth will shape the future through action. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory against Fascism and the United Nations, let us walk hand in hand under the banner “Together for Peace” to build a shared destiny for humanity!”
