“Zhi-Hong” International Summer School on Future Materials – 2025

🌏 About the Program

The “Zhi-Hong” International Summer School on Advanced Materials (ISS-AM) is a prestigious two-week academic and cultural program hosted by the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).

Named in tribute to Professor Zhihong Zhou, the founder of SMSE, the summer school also carries a symbolic meaning: in Chinese, “Zhi-Hong” (志宏) suggests “ambition and aspiration,” inspiring participants to think boldly and aim high.

Each year, ISS-AM centers around a unique theme. For 2025, the focus is on “Future Materials”, offering a forward-looking perspective on cutting-edge developments in materials science.

Since 2016, the program has successfully welcomed 186 international students from over 10 countries, along with 237 top Chinese students. Scholars from world-renowned institutions like Harvard, Cambridge, Northwestern, KTH, Osaka University, and more have joined as guest lecturers.

Join us in 2025 to grow academically, explore China, and build lasting global friendships — all at one of the most prestigious universities in China.
