To attract outstanding young talents to conduct research at Wuhan University and support the development and innovation potential of young scholars in their pursuit of academic excellence and scientific breakthroughs, the university has established the “Hongyi Postdoctoral” Program. The application and selection process for the 2025 Wuhan University “Hongyi Postdoctoral” Program is now open. We sincerely invite dedicated and pioneering young scholars to apply.
1. Support Duration
The standard support period is two years. Exceptional researchers with significant achievements during their tenure may apply for an extension of up to three years.
2. Salary and Benefits
- Selected candidates will receive an annual salary of RMB 300,000 (pre-tax) from the university. Additional financial support may be provided by the host department and collaborating mentors based on the candidate’s overall qualifications. This salary can also be supplemented by various national postdoctoral funding programs, as well as support from Hubei Province and Wuhan City.
- Benefits: The program provides housing funds, pension insurance, occupational annuities, priority access to postdoctoral apartments or housing subsidies, as well as benefits related to childcare, school enrollment for children, and medical care.
- Career Development Path: In accordance with university regulations, postdoctoral researchers may apply for associate senior positions during their tenure. Those who meet the university’s talent recruitment policies and satisfy exit requirements may apply for faculty positions.
3. Eligibility Requirements
- Candidates must possess strong ideological and political qualities, uphold academic ethics, demonstrate a rigorous scientific approach, exhibit dedication to their field, and be in good health.
- Applicants must be no older than 35 years and have a solid academic background with strong research potential.
- The Ph.D. degree should have been obtained within the last three years (as per each application deadline), or candidates must have met the basic requirements for their Ph.D. dissertation defense at the time of application.
- Candidates must have identified a research team or research group and reached a preliminary research agreement with the respective team leader.
Additional Notes:
- Current postdoctoral researchers at Wuhan University may apply for relevant selection rounds if their contract ends within six months of the application deadline for each batch.
- Applicants who have been awarded the National Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program (Category A of the National Funded Postdoctoral Research Program) may be directly admitted to the Wuhan University “Hongyi Postdoctoral” Program upon recommendation by their host department.
4. Selection Process
Applicants must submit their application materials to their respective departments. Each department will evaluate candidates based on their political and ideological integrity, educational background, academic achievements, research capabilities, innovation in proposed research topics, and their potential contributions to their field. The Human Resources Department will then organize expert reviews, submit the results for university approval, and publish the final list after the public review period.
5. Application Materials

- Supporting Documents:
- Identity Documents: Valid ID (passport for foreign applicants); Ph.D. diploma and graduation certificate (fresh Ph.D. graduates must provide proof of meeting graduation requirements; degrees obtained overseas must include certification from the Chinese Ministry of Education’s Study Abroad Service Center).
- Academic and Research Achievements: Papers, monographs, patents, awards, or research project details demonstrating the applicant’s academic and research capabilities. For publications, full texts should be provided (unpublished works require proof of acceptance), along with indexing verification. For monographs, the cover, table of contents, and abstract must be submitted. Patents and awards require corresponding certificates, and research projects must be accompanied by relevant proof.
- Three Letters of Recommendation, including one from the applicant’s Ph.D. supervisor (not required for current postdoctoral researchers).
All application materials must be compiled into a single PDF file (no larger than 50MB) and sent via email to the designated contact at the host department. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

First Round:
- Application submission deadline: February 28, 2025
- Department submission deadline: March 10, 2025
- Result announcement: Late April 2025
Second Round:
- Application submission deadline: April 30, 2025
- Department submission deadline: May 15, 2025
- Result announcement: Late June 2025
Third Round:
- Application submission deadline: August 15, 2025
- Department submission deadline: August 31, 2025
- Result announcement: Late September 2025
Fourth Round:
- Application submission deadline: September 30, 2025
- Department submission deadline: October 31, 2025
- Result announcement: Late December 2025
7. Additional Notes
- Candidates who have not yet received their Ph.D. diploma at the time of application must present it when completing the enrollment process. Failure to provide the diploma will result in disqualification.
- Applicants may only submit their “Hongyi Postdoctoral” application through one department per round. Submitting the same application through multiple departments will render it invalid.
- Selected candidates will receive an official admission notice from Wuhan University’s “Hongyi Postdoctoral” Program. They must follow the instructions in the notice to submit their postdoctoral enrollment materials, complete the approval process, and finalize their postdoctoral enrollment at the university.
- Upon enrollment, candidates must engage in full-time postdoctoral research at Wuhan University.
