SHU – 2025 CSC Scholarship-Type A

Shanghai University  2025 Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program (CSC type A)

Chinese Government Scholarship Bilateral program accords with the cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. This scholarship program is referred to as CSC-type A. 

BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 

Application accepting institution: Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country, such as the educational department or Chinese embassy.

Applicant: Outstanding international students applying for undergraduate, postgraduate, general and senior scholars’ programs at Shanghai University. ·Majors under this scholarship program: No Limit (For the major list, please refer to https://apply.shu.edu.cn/ ) CSC Type A scholarship is unavailable for an English-taught bachelor program. ·Chinese Government Scholarship The Bilateral program provides full and partial scholarships. For more detailed information, please refer to https://www.campuschina.org 

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

  1. Non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary-type passport and in good mental and physical health.

2. The applicant must meet the academic qualifications and age requirements set by the program.

① be an academically excellent holder of a high school diploma or its equivalent under the age of 25 when applying for an undergraduate program;

② be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a Master’s program;

③be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program;

④ be a holder of a high school diploma (or higher) under the age of 45 when applying for a general scholar program;

⑤be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for a senior scholar program;

3. The language proficiency and academic background should meet the application requirements of Shanghai University.

4. Not simultaneously receive other types of scholarships.

DOCUMENTS

Includes a copy of passport information page, notarized highest diploma, academic transcripts, language qualification certificates, research plan, recommendation letters, foreigner physical examination form, non-criminal record report, awards, academic achievement proof, etc. 

 NOTES: ·Documents not in Chinese or English should be accompanied by Chinese/English translation provided by notarized or issuing departments; ·Only scanned copies of the above materials are required for application, and the original documents are required for reference at the time of registration. ·Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic, and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by untrue, unclear, or unidentifiable uploaded materials.


APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Applicants should log in to the Shanghai University International Student Online Application website (https://apply.shu.edu.cn/ ) to submit their applications. After passing the application material review and online interview, applicants will receive a Pre-Admission Notice from Shanghai University.

The application process includes filling in personal information, uploading application materials, taking online tests, etc. Please pay close attention to the status of your application within the system and check your email regularly. Generally, applicants could receive feedback within 14 days after applying. 

·For general and senior scholars’ programs, please send the application materials to this email address:liuyuan2020@shu.edu.cn for the pre-admission notice.

·This Pre-Admission Notice can be used for applying to the CSC Type A program but does not guarantee admission to Shanghai University. The final admission is subject to the approval of the dispatching authorities for overseas study in your home country, China Scholarship Council, Shanghai University, relevant college/school, and prospective supervisors.

· CSC Type A program applicants do not need to pay the Shanghai University international student application fee of CNY 500.

Step 2: Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for a CSC Type A scholarship opportunity.

Step 3: Log in to https://www.campuschina.org, select the study program type – Type A, and complete the online application

Step 4: Reviewed by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) and Shanghai University.

Step 5: The CSC will notify the admission results to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country..

·Applicants not admitted to the Chinese Government Scholarship can apply for other scholarship programs of Shanghai University or self-funded programs.

IMPORTANT DATES

Application time:

 Generally, the application starts in November 2024. 

Please consult the dispatching authorities for the specific deadline of each year.

Date of new student registration: 

August 20th, 2025 

(The specific registration time will be notified on the official website https://apply.shu.edu.cn/ ).

OTHERS

1. Scholarship applicants must submit their application materials directly to Shanghai University in person. Those who apply by agencies will be disqualified from scholarships.

2. Scholarship recipients must complete the registration and enrollment at the scheduled time per the university regulations. Those who miss the deadline without approval will be disqualified from the scholarship.

3. Scholarship recipients must bring all original documents for registration. Provision of any false/ misleading information or failure to provide the requested supporting documents will lead to disqualification from admission.

4. Scholarship recipients must attend the annual scholarship review, which evaluates their academic and daily performance for the whole academic year. Those who fail to pass will lose their eligibility for the next year’s scholarship.

5. Scholarship recipients cannot change their major, transfer to another University, or prolong the length of study in principle.

The College of International Education, Shanghai University, shall explain those items.
