  1. Chinese Government Scholarship (BA, MA, Ph.D)

    (Non-degree, BA, MA in International Chinese Language Education)

  3. Xi’an City Five Central Asian Countries Scholarship
    (Foundation to Bachelor Program)
    Eligibility: Citizens of “Five Central Asian Countries”
    Coverage:
    • Tuition fee waiver
    • Free on-campus accommodation
    • Monthly living allowance
    • Comprehensive medical insurance
    • International travel stipend
  4. Xi’an City One Belt One Road Scholarship
    (Non-degree, BA, MA, Ph.D)
    • Living allowance for the first academic year

Application Procedure

1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application:

  • Apply online at the CSC website.
    • Download and complete the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship. Print and sign your name.
    • Agency No.: 10697
  • Submit an online application through the NWU international student portal at http://nwu.17gz.org.
  • Pay the application fee upon receiving the Payment Notice for Application via system information/email.
  • Follow updates about the application status, pre-admission reviews, and acceptance via email or the application system.

2. International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Application:

  • Apply online via the scholarship website.
    • Search for recommending institutions (e.g., Local Confucius Institutes, HSK test centers) and host institutions (e.g., Northwest University).
  • Upload the required documents and track the application process online.

3. Other Programs Application:

  • Submit an online application at http://nwu.17gz.org.
  • Pay the application fee and follow the process outlined above.

Note:

  • Application fee: 400 RMB (self-funded applicants), 600 RMB (scholarship applicants).
  • The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Applications must be submitted online only. Hard copies are not accepted.

Required Documents

Applicants must provide the following materials in Chinese or English through the application portal:

  1. Scholarship Application Form
  2. NWU Application Form for International Students (automatically generated after online application)
  3. Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (valid for six months)
  4. Original Non-Criminal Record
  5. Original Highest Diploma and Notarized Copies
  6. Original Academic Transcripts and Notarized Copies
  7. Two Recommendation Letters (in English or Chinese)
  8. Study Plan or Research Proposal (in English or Chinese)
  9. Research Achievements (if applicable)
  10. Certificate of Language Proficiency
  11. Photocopy of a Valid Ordinary Passport
  12. Financial Support Documents (for self-funded students)
  13. Acceptance Letter of NWU Supervisor (for master’s and doctoral programs)

Note:

  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • Documents in languages other than Chinese/English must be notarized with translations in these languages.
