Internship Program for International Students in China

The China Electronic Chamber of Commerce (CECC) and the United Nations International Trade Center (ITC) jointly hosted the “Industry Dialogue Summit on Trade Facilitation for the Development of E-commerce” held at the UN European Headquarters in Geneva in April 2019. During the event, the parties agreed to cooperate on the “Joint International Talent Development Program for Cross-Border E-commerce.” Later, during the second China International Import Expo held on November 6, 2019, CECC and ITC jointly organized the “2019 China International Cross-Border E-commerce Development Forum” and officially signed the cooperation memorandum. As part of this initiative, CECC launched the GIIP Cross-Border E-commerce Internship Program in cooperation with HanKao International Education Technology (CTI). The program aims to cultivate global talents in cross-border e-commerce and contribute to international economic growth by providing scholarships, mentoring, and internship opportunities.

Internship Position Requirements


Fluent English communication skills (preference will be given to Chinese speakers with HSK-level test scores).
Students studying in departments such as International Chinese Language, Business, IT, New Media Operation, Economics, and Finance are preferred.
Be familiar with social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
I have a strong interest in cross-border e-commerce and passed the interview.
Current students studying abroad for undergraduate or graduate degrees or those studying at universities in Shanghai, Chin, are eligible to apply.
University students ranked in the top 300 of the QS ranking are preferred.
Preference will be given to recent graduates from 985 and 211 universities in Shanghai.


Your Benefits

Approximately 20 hours of internship time per week (excluding training time) and 200 yuan per day internship fee.
Accommodation support will be provided for international students coming to China for internships.

Internship Content



Deepening Industry Insights: Improve your understanding of the opportunities and challenges in e-commerce and the digital economy, and gain practical knowledge of how cross-border e-commerce businesses operate.
Market Analysis: Research and analyze various cross-border e-commerce platforms; gain market insights from different perspectives, focusing on business strategies, product positioning, and pricing tactics.
Product Selection and Supply Chain Management: Identify products for cross-border trade based on market demand and manage supply chains; successfully maintain daily operations and social media promotion.


Ongoing Support for the Project


Direct Employment and Work Visa: After the internship, you will have the opportunity to obtain a formal employee position and be supported in the application process for a legal work visa. You will enjoy additional benefits such as a salary (¥8,000-12,000) and accommodation/transportation allowances.
Interview Opportunities with Industry Giants: Besides providing successful interns the opportunity to become official employees, we will also provide interview recommendations to CECC members such as Amazon, Alibaba, and eBay.

Entrepreneurship Support: Resource support such as business registration, financial consultancy, and product development will be provided to those who want to start a business in China.

Project Schedule


December 2024: Applications and documents submission.
January 2025: Interviews and screening. Internship invitations will be sent to those who are accepted, agreements will be signed, and visa documents will be prepared.
February 2025: Arrival in China and completion of visa procedures.
Late February 2025: Internship starts.
