🌐 Program Overview

The Master of Economic Development at Renmin University of China aims to cultivate high-level professionals equipped with both solid theoretical foundations and practical competencies in economics. This program offers a unique focus on the economic development of both China and developing countries, enabling students to analyze current economic trends and anticipate future trajectories.

Graduates are prepared to pursue careers in international organizations, government departments, multinational enterprises, financial institutions, and academic or research institutions focused on development economics.

All courses are taught entirely in English, and each student receives individual academic supervision from an RUC faculty member, allowing them to develop a thesis in their area of interest.


💰 Tuition

  • 60,000 RMB per academic year

📚 Curriculum & Credit Structure

To graduate, students must complete 34 credits, including a master’s thesis. The credit distribution is as follows:

  • Basic Required Courses: 7 credits
  • Core Required Courses: 21 credits
  • Elective Courses: 4 credits
  • Social Practice: 2 credits
