In May 2024, Shanghai officially entered a new chapter in smart public transportation with the launch of its customized bus service platform, branded under the “DZ” system. According to the Shanghai Municipal Government, as of mid-May, more than 220 custom routes had already been created across 16 districts of the city. This shows a remarkable demand for flexible transit options among Shanghai’s population of over 24 million.
